My First Contours Express Experience

Contours Express = Award Winning Fitness Gym for Women!

Contours Express is an international franchise gym ONLY FOR WOMEN.
All it takes is 29 minutes to tone, burn calories and improve flexibility.

The fitness trainers will personalize workout according to your goals and health condition, it is beginner and senior friendly too.

They are conveniently located at most neighbourhood areas!
North, Central, North-East, East, and West!
Good news! I heard from my trainer that they are extending their operating hours to cater to the working society!

I am an exercise "fanatic" but I haven't been exercising regularly since last year. I got really excited and happy before attending the session as I have always been wanted to grab gym packages but I am lazy to make the first move. This golden chance motivated me! ^^

The trainers are motivating, helpful and cheerful.
My pretty trainer and me! Both wearing braces! 😁

I have to admit that the gym is much smaller than what I have imagined but it is also much comfortable than I imagined!

The female environment makes me more confident and comfortable as I don't have to be conscious of what I do (don't have to avoid making stupid mistakes and being laughed at by the guys).

Usually I hit the gym without any clue, run on the treadmill and goes to the station where it is less crowded. But with fitness trainers around in Contours Express, I didn't have to worry about doing it wrongly!

The 29 min circuit training consisted a mixture of video aerobics and targeted equipment workout. They have a sound system that plays songs and signals you to switch station every 45 seconds. They play my beloved KPOP songs too! :D

The trainer guided me with demonstrations, when to breathe in and out, through the 29 min doing 2 sets of circuit including warming up and cooling down stretches. Cooling down was a killer! It consisted some stretches and abs training where I pulled my neck muscles while trying so hard! So embarrassing! >_<

Below photo is a collage of the equipment workout that I did. I love them the most!
Do I look like a pro? :D

After the 29 min circuit training, I felt as if I have exercised for more than an hour. I perspired and panted like crazy in the air-conditioned room (UNFIT MAX!).

The trainer evaluated my stamina by counting my pulse rate after 29 minutes and it failed very badly of course. She gave me advices suitable for my case as well.

A few days later, I can feel my muscles worked! It's amazing how 29 min can be such a good workout after all...

What do I like about Contours Express...
  • Conveniently located around neighbourhood areas
  • Comfortable environment
  • Guidance and motivation by friendly trainers (no need to pay extras for it)
  • Equipments are well-maintained
  • Friendly gym peers
  • Less crowd = stress free!
  • Systematic
  • It takes only 29 min to burn some calories that I have been guiltily taking in!

Essential Damage-Care: Hair Serum and Treatment Milk

Blow? Colour? Perm? Straighten?
Doing all sorts of harsh treatments for a pretty hair?
All of the above = Damage hair!
What do we need to do? Hair treatment!
Yes, other than professional hair treatments from Salon, we can also do it daily by ourselves to maintain it~

All hail the Essential Damage Care hair serum and treatment milk~!
Essential is a popular haircare brand for damaged hair from Japan.
You can get to try these from SampleStore!

From left: transparent liquid is the serum. white liquid is the treatment milk.
Both are light and non-greasy.

What else causes damage to our hair? Pillow!
Why and how on earth did pillow do to damage your hair?!
Firstly, pillow damage occurred due to friction (by rubbing against the pillow) as "pillow friction" causes the hair cuticles to open up unevenly, causing hair to be rough, frizzy or prone to tangles.
SLEEP! TOSS! TURN! = SHIOK!
But it is not shiok when we wake up with frizzy, unmanageable hair like a lion’s mane.

The main criminals for my daily bed hair "SNAP" and "PULL & TUG".
Why did I say so is because every morning when I comb my hair, I do not have much tangles but my hair just falls and breaks easily.
No wonder I have such weak hair. :( PILLOW, WHY DID U DO THIS TO ME~

I apply the treatment milk before I go to bed and apply hair serum after I blow dry my hair in the morning.
Improvements showed as below. :)

My unruly hair before I started applying the serum and treatment milk.

From left: Day 1, 2, 3

Pros:
- Not sticky
- Not oily
- Does not stain pillow/clothes
- Affordable
- Easy to dispense

Cons:
- N.A

Overall, I think I'm very satisfied with the products. Nothing that I dislike of it at the moment. :)
But of course, for best results, occasional salon's hair and scalp treatment will help to keep hair smooth and healthy. :)

Price: $11.90 each
Available at leading supermarkets, hypermarkets, personal care stores and pharmacies.

Embrace Dental Clinic: Self-Ligating Braces

My first trip to EmBrace was back in March 24 straight after my pre-wedding photoshoot from Taiwan.
It was a very quick and professional procedure done by Dr Tan. He fixed everything in less than an hour (without teeth extraction). Till date, I have NO ulcers and significant pain caused by my braces at all. Oh ya! Dr Tan did not fix in separators for me which I heard it's the main cause of pain during the initial stage. He is a very nice and caring dentist.

1. Quick scaling and polishing of teeth
2. Glue and fix the brackets
3. Used some lights to fix the brackets
4. Fix in the wire
5. Guidance on how to brush and handle the braces in various situations.
6. Good to go!
Free braces' toothbrush and wax before I leave! :D

Usual yet useful tips from dentists/ex-braces wearers:
Don't (s)
- Eat nuts or crunchy stuff
- Eat chocolates, melt it in your mouth if you really want to
- Eat curry as it will stain your coloured bands (For traditional metal braces wearers)
Do (s)
- Take some time to get used
- Use wax if the braces hurts you (I've got no ulcers from braces at all)
- Take time to brush your teeth well (Although I'm quite lazy)

Pros
- I don't have to spend time choosing the colour of the band every visit
- The braces is not as noticeable than metal braces
- According to online sources, self-ligating braces is able to move freely with less applied force due less friction by the elimination of "ties".
- Shorter treatment length
- Less food trapping
- Better oral health as it is much easier to clean
Cons
- Slightly more costly than traditional braces

Photo taken right after my 1st visit
Ignore my frizzy hair after lying on the dental bed. :D

This is how my braces look like on the first day
(with wax on it to prevent abrasion and for me to adapt to extra "stuff" on my teeth)

3 weeks after teeth-extraction (4 molars)

1 month after teeth-extraction (4 molars)

p.s. Sorry for the low resolution of photos as I used my iPhone to take them. I don't have a good camera! :(

The price he quoted me is $4,500 for the full package (including everything, simple teeth extractions, light scaling and polishing, x-ray, mould, photos, retainers, etc). It's very worth it considering it's location at Orchard and treatment from an Orthodontist!

The first time I went for consultation + mould + x-ray, I paid $200.
The second time I went to put on braces, I paid $1,500.
The third time onwards will be $150 each visit.

Ur Nails @ Far East Plaza: Bridal Nails

This is the set of bridal nails I did for my pre-wedding photoshoot. However, it didn't turn out as great in photos. I would prefer it to be more bling bling during my actual day I guess. That is why women do their nails right? No? Haha

As for the skills of the manicurist at Ur Nails, she was average considering the better nail arts I've seen from @cynfulnails, @glitzyfingers and @thenailartelier whom I follow in Instagram. I will consider going to one of these three for my actual wedding day!

What I like about Ur Nails are that they have less crowd (which could be related to their skills? >.<) and their friendly service.

Below is one of the photos that can see my nails best! What do you think? Visible? Plain? Good?
